What's New

Improvements at The Cottage

It's already beautiful (of course!) but there were plenty of improvements that we'd been wanting to make and this kept us busy throughout 2023.  More details below.

...AT THE COTTAGE

Another busy year of improvements inside and out.  The new dining room table and chairs are a great addition and, along with the new lighting in that room, a much more relaxing place to spend an evening.  We've completed the outside Cottage painting, so it's looking really smart. More plumbing work is planned in the kitchen and the front bedroom is due to get a new matress in early 2024.

...ON PEVERIL POINT

The boat park and fisherman's hut area are now fully completed and packed full of bots and kit.  There has been plenty more work done in 2023 on the Woodland Trail footpath from Peveril Point up to Durlston Castle.  Thousands of hours of volunteering work along with funds from Dorset has seen this totally transformed in the last couple of years.  Selective tree clearing has opened up beautiful views back across the sea to Peveril Point. The compacted limestone pathway with low Purbeck walls slopes gently up to the Castle but with plenty of sculptured wood and stone benches along the way.  Much of the path has a parrallel woodchip pathway amongst the trees with brilliant play areas.

...AROUND SWANAGE

The Pier Head development of flats and shops / eateries is now complete and occupied - we think it's an attractive addition to 'our end' of Swanage.  Wave barriers being put up all around the front ahead of winter storms.
